EMS FYI July 5, 2019

July 5, 2019
All information falls under the latest revision for the EMS Protocols: 11-15-2018
On Thursday June 27th, Chief Orlando Dominguez, alongside Chief of Ocean Rescue Eisen Witcher, Derek Swor (not pictured) Assistant Chief of Ocean Rescue, Nick Cirvello with IT and Michael Karacsony & Sue Weigel with Dispatch, were busy working on an action plan for any future emergencies that occur at the Brevard Zoo Linear Park. The trail is 3 miles long one way and is not easily accessible. It is still a work in progress, but they are locating all access points and making sure communications are open to the 911 System.

Did you know…
  1. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission,  nearly half of the fireworks injuries to children under the age of 5 are caused by sparklers.
  2. Sparklers burn at an extremely high heat: 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit—hot enough to melt some metals.
  3. Sparks can ignite clothing on fire and cause eye injuries.
  4. Touching a lit sparkler to skin can result in third degree burns.
Stay Safe this 4th of July!!

Consumer Product Safety Commission Report
Please remember if a non-transport unit starts a report with the intention of transferring to the rescue crew, the report must be started on the Mobile ESO application. ESO does not allow for the transfer of reports using the internet version of ESO.

Some crews have also found it more user friendly if the non-transport unit starts a new report by selecting "New Record" instead of CAD import.
